The Promise of a New Earth: Children of God Storybook Bible, Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu

July 4, 2020

God promises us a new heaven and a new earth.  God shows John a vision of this new heaven and earth.  But, God does not created that new heaven and new earth alone.  God shows us visions of how life could be, and it’s up to us to co-create that new heaven and new earth with one another and with God.  That’s why Mayflower gives money and time to lots of differing organizations that share similar faith values.  Some of those organizations are ISAIAH, Beacon, Interfaith Power and Light, VEAP, Trust Builders, and so many more.  Through partnering with folks, we can work together to create God’s dream of justice on earth.  And, that is so awesome!

Daily Prayers

In the morning when we wake up: May today bring joy in new ways. Amen.

At mealtimes: Dear God, thank you for health. Thank you for the earth. Thank you for the hands and hearts that made this food. May the earth and your people be healthy. Amen.

Bedtime: Dear God, thank you for resting from the top of my head down to my toes. Your love will be with me even in my sleep. Amen.

The Disciples Spread the Good News: Children of God Storybook Bible, Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu

July 3, 2020

When we live into our differences, we can use those differences to reach out to folks like us.  We can spread God’s love through offering love and help to those that speak our language, or have similar challenges to us, or are similar ages. . . the list goes on.  That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t reach out to folks unlike us too, though.  It is so important to see and hear each other.  I wonder what are some ways you are reaching out to your neighbor.

The Coming of the Holy Spirit: Children of God Storybook Bible, Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu

July 2, 2020

The ways that we are different are so important.  In fact, God created us all with differences!  Our differences make the world beautiful. By seeing each other for our differences, and seeing those things as beautiful, makes the world a special place.  And, when we see each other for all of our beauty, we are also seeing God in all God’s beauty.  Difference is good.  Difference is beautiful.

The Good News: Children of God Storybook Bible, Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu

July 1, 2020

In our story today, we are asked to tell everyone that God loves them.  I wonder about how we do that though.  There are lots of better ways to spread God’s love than using words.  What if we SHOWED everyone that God loves them through our actions, or the way we live our lives?  Not many people love to be told something.  But, folks do love when they feel loved, and seen, and heard.  I wonder how you are showing those around you God’s love through your actions.
